Jeanne Moreau, blonde and all in white, is stunning as the gambling-addict beauty who bewitches puppyish bank clerk Claude Mann over the Riviera's roulette tables.

Appropriate, as their relationship also becomes a heady game of chance. Witty and wise, the film boasts a superb Michel Legrand score and brilliant back and white camera work from Jean Rabier, contrasting the sun-baked boulevards with the nocturnal temptations of the casinos.
