It is with great regret due to illness, Goldenhorse are no longer joining OPSHOP on their Theatre Tour. Opshop will, however, still be joined by the wonderfully talented singer/songwriter Luke Thompson.

Opshop have had amazing success since bursting onto the scene with their platinum debut album ‘You Are Here’ and with their follow up album ‘Second Hand Planet’ going one step further, recently reaching
double platinum status and still gracing the NZ Music charts one year after release.

Celebrating this huge success, Opshop are pleased to confirm their 18 date ‘Big Energy In A Can Tour’ throughout New Zealand.

Each venue will have a Telecom Drop Zone for canned food donations which will be donated to the Salvation Army food banks.

“We (Opshop) believe passionately that we want to make a tangible difference in communities throughout NZ, and with the help of the Salvation Army food banks nationwide, we are able to provide an easy mechanism to facilitate this. Its simple, pull a can of food out of the cupboard and throw it in the Telecom Drop Zone when you arrive at the gig. It helps the less fortunate out and it makes you full of warm fuzzies for winter just before the show" - Jason Kerrison

Maybe we live in a world where no one is hungry and everyone has all the love and support they need to grow into the person they are truly meant to be. It might be a dream just now, but if we all reach out to one another rather than ignoring what is plainly in front of us, then it might just happen, One Day.

Maybe by listening to each other and focussing on what qualities we'd like in our planet, society, community and ourselves, we can stop tearing each other and the world to pieces! Why not START today!

Maybe by showing some goodwill towards our fellow man/woman we can avoid having a Second Hand Planet one day. Why not today?

What a great initiative Opshop and a great way to support the community and the Sallies who do so much for struggling families. It's the litte things that count and can make such a huge difference.

Maybe everyone will give what they don't need and think more before they act. Maybe people will understand how easy it is to help, in small ways and the cumulative effect this has. Maybe this will happen one day.

Maybe every child in NZ could have a healthy breakfast to start the day and a happy home to go to at the end of the day........one day.

As the daughter of a once struggling solo mum, I remember relying on food banks to help get our family through tough times. If it wasn't for the kindness of strangers, we would've been in a bad way indeed. Good on you Opshop, what a stellar way to assist people in need.
