Wellington has been chosen as the host city of World Environment Day for 2008.

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations in 1972 and is commemorated annually on 5 June. The focus of the global 2008 celebrations will be on the solutions and opportunities for you to Kick the Habit towards a low carbon economy.

Celebrate world environment day at Wellington Zoo on Saturday 7 June. Come and join us for a fun filled day with family activities and learn about what you can do to reduce your environmental impact. We will have talks and activities in the Wild Theatre from 11am till 2pm and native tree planting around the zoo at 11am; discover what steps you can take to kick your carbon habit.

10% of all Zoo admissions on 7 June will go to the Wellington Zoo Conservation Fund to help us support the protection of New Zealand frog species. So catch the bus, ride your bike or enjoy a walk to the Zoo.
