Experience the finest of Maori art and interact with artists during Matariki, the Maori New Year, at the Auahi Kore Bloodlines exhibition.
Seventeen Maori artists from throughout Aotearoa present stunning new works in this exhibition of contemporary Maori art making it a unique opportunity to acquire highly-sought pieces for your home or art collection.
With new works of painting, weaving, carving and ta moko (tattoo), it’s a significant collection of over 80 works from established artists that include Phil Berry, Simon Lardelli, Jack Brooking and Mark Kopua. Meet the artists during ta moko, whakairo (carving), raranga (weaving) and painting demonstrations in the gallery during 13 – 22 June.
“It’s about taking a glance at the indigenous culture of this land. A place where you can go and experience Maori art in a relaxing and positive environment.”
Presented in partnership with Auahi Kore (Smokefree), the concept of the exhibition is to emphasise that health, arts and culture are equally important for everyone’s future wellbeing.
