Performed by Billy T Award nominee Arthur Meek, this is the first state-of-the- nation address for the Rogernomics generation (‘we who ask not what our country can do for us, but what we can do for ourselves!’) Fresh from its smash-hit sold-out Wellington season, the Christchurch Cabaret Festival presents the Powerpoint lecture of the decade for two nights only.
The Lovers
OCP . . . first appeared as a booklet by Balclutha author Richard Meros, his other works include Richard Meros Salutes the Southern Man and his race-relations treatise Tinorangatira, Muthawhaka.
It was adapted for the stage by:
Arthur Meek – Performer/adaptor: Arthur is the creator of the award-winning short film Being John Campbell (2002), and member of Billy T Nominated band The Lonesome Buckwhips (Best Comedy, Fringe 2007).
Geoff Pinfield – Director/adaptor: co-writer of the all-singing all-dancing all-Maori extravaganza Maui – One Man Against the Gods and creator of anarcho-mime shows Happy Hour for Miserable Children (Best Comedy, Fringe 04) and The Magic Chicken.
On The Conditions and Possibilities of Helen Clark Taking Me As Her Young Lover is part of the second Christchurch Cabaret Festival, kicking off June 18 - the only dedicated Cabaret Festival in New Zealand presenting international and national acts in music, song, comedy and satire.
