There are lots of forms of music, something for everyone,
we must support what we love, classical gives us peace, harmony and balance in this fast world.

To be there and experience it is superb, If we don't support it, we lose it.

Without classical music, NZ would be like a tree without roots or a rugby player without feet. All music we have today is born from the classical.

We deserve the very best surely. If anyone dares suggest classical music not be supported, well I say Awff With Their Heads! Clearly they haven't been using them anyway, so them roll. Fill the air with beauty and inspiration and sweet harmony instead.

Talented artists need to be respected and encouraged. Auckland's Philharmonia is one big supporter of local artists and I feel wonderfully peaceful and elated when I go to any of these classical performances perfomed by both local and foreign artistes.
i can't perform................but it is divine to be able to experience classical work of such maestros and geniuses in the world........

nz artists do have a "hidden" talent for classical music. take haley westenra and dame kiri for example....it just goes to show that if we are able to support such people and their music, classical music can own.

Classical music is the ultimate in 'music taste' and needs to be supported at every opportunity.

We should support listening and learning of Classical music from the very begining in all levels of schools from pre school to University,so that it doesn't die out. It is a genre that is appreciated in all walks of life, don't let it me pushed out by the noise today that passes as music, which cannot be apreciated for its art just yelled along with to amke oneself heard! Bring more Classicists here.

I used to play the violin, badly, when I was young, but classical music was a big part of my upbringing and New Zealand has some of the finest Orchestra's in the world and leading musician's and conductor's are always more than willing to come to the other side of the world to work with them here.

Although classical music is not everyone's favourite, it is the basis for all music, and like the classic literature, it will stand the test of time, not like most modern music. It has an important place in society, and more people are realising it because they are doing remixes of classical music. It will live on forever.

We should support classical music not just because we like it, but because in a very important sense it is "better" than popular music, just as classic novels are better than the latest thriller and Old Master paintings are better than black velvet paintings. By all means enjoy popular music as well, but don't make the mistake of thinking that all art is equivalent.
