An engrossing, funny and moving account of how far a woman reporter will go to get her story.

Inspired by the hunt for Keith Murdoch, the only man to be expelled from the All Blacks, the play is an intimate portrayal of the collision of two giants, the Media and Rugby.

Finding Murdoch answers questions about the mystery and intrigue that still surrounds Murdoch's disappearance.

Legend has it that, unable to face the disgrace at home, Murdoch disappeared into self-imposed exile in Australia - fact or fiction? You be the judge.

Set in 1990, the pioneering days of the independent television industry, Finding Murdoch examines the power of the media and the right of privacy.

At the same time it chronicles an incident which has become part of New Zealand's folklore and rugby heritage.

I think he did it because of all the media and attention, his career was never straight foward. All the stories and rumors, who knows what to believe!

I can remember when he was found, it wasn't that long ago was it or am i just getting old!! I think he was just sick of the bull s*** that surrounded the incident and thought his mates weren't behind him so why not just bugger off in a classic man fashion!!! Bugger the lot of them, isn't that the saying? I also read a review of this the other day and thought it would be a pretty cool story and piece of theatre, it's been a while since I have been to an actual play, i think the last one was little shop of horrors over on the north shore, at least 12 years ago!! That's what having kids does to you!

I remember the Murdoch Saga vividly, the media coverage, the photo of the Welsh Security Guard with his black eye (some security guard!), all the talk back in little ol' New Zild about the whole thing. The captain Ian Kirkpatrick years later said he wished he and other teammates had stood up for Keith a bit more the outcome would have been different and Murdoch may not have panicked once he got to Australia, got off the plane as quickly as he could and bolted into the Australian outback. Australia's big and empty so Keith had no problem getting some privacy, unlike New Zealand where he probably would have been hounded by all and sundry until he was forced to leave. The guy made the right decision getting off the plane when he did. I'd love to see this play because it got a really great review in the paper the other day and I haven't seen a play in ages.
