The 2008 Festival of Brass - the 128th NZ National Brass Band Championships will be held in Christchurch over five days.

The event attracts over 1200 musicians from 33 bands from throughout NZ and some from Australia.

Many events are free including The Breeze Parade of Bands (Friday 11 July, 1pm).

Other popular events include the KBB Music Champion of Champions ($10pp), the Simon Hocking House of Travel Invitation Slow Melody ($10pp) and the Scenic Circle Hotels Band of the Year. Prices listed are for the Band of the Year.

Bands compete in four grades with the ultimate being the 'A' grade championship on Saturday evening (12 July).
