An exhibition of photographs by New Zealand artist Kate Long.
Kate Longs’ nudes, overlaid with text, are subtle yet challenging works; at once beautiful and thought provoking. Kate has chosen the figures to be anonymous and used as a canvas themselves.
The beauty of the female form works to intensify the personal nature of the poetry. In some cases the communication is reduced even further with the camera reconstructing the image into intangible segments of isolation where certain words and shapes are accentuated to form the meaning.
Kate states, “To me, there is nothing like the texture of the canvas and when the photograph is blown up and stretched I feel it takes on a new life."
