Peter Urlich and his five piece swing band will perform live in the Rangitoto Ballroom, at The Langham.

With this performance, Peter Urlich revives the great New Zealand tradition – the “Dine and Dance”.

It’s a chance for you and your partner to throw on your finest, dine in luxurious ambience and to glide around the dance floor in suitable style.

This exclusive night is to celebrate the release of Peter’s album Between You & Me on Liberation Music. It’s a CD that features some of the music world's most well-known and loved songs, presented to you in Peter’s inimitable style and it’s contents will provide the basic repertoire for the show live show. Duke Ellington’s ‘Don’t Get Around Much Anymore’, Gershwin’s ‘They Can’t Take That Away From Me’ and Bart Howard’s ‘Fly Me to the Moon”, will all be performed.

There’s Bill Wither’s dreamy, sad epic ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’, ‘Everybody’s Talkin’ written by Bob Dylan’s NYC friend, Fred Neil in the early 60s and the quirky David Bowie parental burst of mischief, ‘Kooks’. If you caught Peter’s cameo performance on the Dancing With The Stars finale, this will be a evening not to be missed.

On stage and on record, each tune is delivered with a casual excellence and a convincing emotional connection that some simply might say is Peter Urlich at his best!

Tickets For Peter Urlich “Dine and Dance” go on sale at Ticketek on Friday 16 May at 9.00am.

The Reserved Table Seated Tickets include a three course meal. Ticket/Hotel packages are available
also.

Dance is one of the arts that you can partake in whether you are an expert or an amateur. And you can get great joy from actually doing it yourself or watching others ...whether it be in Aotearoa or in Northern Africa. One of the most memorable days I have had was in Rajasthan, India. During the day we watched a group of young people dancing to celebrate a local festival and that night a group of danced ourselves silly on a rooftop in Udiapur to some wonderful dub and reggae. Some many of our memorable events can be associated with dancing in one form or another...the first school disco, the 21st parties, formal balls, our first live concert, weddings, the list continues as does our lives.. the reasons are different but, dance can bring out so many emotions.

I have watched the latest "dancing" programs on TV with delight and I have to admit I'm a bit partial to the sexy Latin dances like the salsa and tango. So much so that I have been looking to join a class!

Dancing to the Regge beats takes my fancy as you dont have to have any particular skills to do this. If you can jump that you are a Regga Muffin.

I love ballet - did it as a kid and went back for a while as an adult. Great exercise, yet tranquil at the same time.

I must admit to being a bit partial to the old head-banging with the hair swooping around and catching someone in the eye. unfortunately the old age is kicking in now so it's sore necks for a week afterwards..... d'oh!

I enjoy dancing the robot amongst a room of 'serious dancers'. I also enjoy SIM dancing (aka, robotically moving like the characters from the PC game 'The Sims'). Best dancing ever!

I enjoy any dancing that gets my boyfriend out onto the dance floor thougth I have to admit a weakness for the classics such as Sinatra.

Loved 'Dancing with the Star' and if there is a dance I would like to learn it would be the Waltz, cos it's slow and I'm not getting any younger, and it's romantic, you wear those lovely flowing dresses, I think I could handle that.

I haven't been dancing for ages but do enjoy dancing to good music & quite like eighties music that brings back the memories of being a teenager. I used to be called the "Dancing Queen" by my workmates because I could dance for hours and have such a good time. I've absolutely loved watching the 'Dancing With The Stars' shows that have been on over the last few years.

I can dance, but i can act like a clown on the dance floor until my wife gives up and that can be done to any music.

Best of all is oldtime dancing, but only when your partner doesn't stand on your toes and keeps in time to the music. Not that I'm any better!

It is a very sad day when i reveal my love for dancing the macarena!!! Its rubbish absolutely but i can do it (with two left feet) and it gets everyone up on the dance floor at weddings so that's gotta be a good thing eh!

I love all dancing, but my favourite has to be Latin dancing. I love the rhythms and the music and the freedom of expression.

The kind of dancing you do naked when you are by yourself and have no inhibitions whatsoever! "I'm bringing sexy back - yeah!"

It is latin dancing for me. I lived in South America for 1 year when I was 17 and was infected by their vibrancy and life. There I learned a variety of latin dances - mainly Salsa. Since then I taught my husband and we have had many beautiful moments dancing together including returning to Argentina last year and attending the Tango Festival in Buenos Aires learning off the best in the industry. Dancing (any style) is an incredible way to express your love or appreciation of someone in your life, it always makes me smile - the good, bad and the downright hilarious =)
