2nd Auckland show added!

Fresh from a sell-out UK season, multi-talented comedian Lenny Henry returns to New Zealand in July for a national tour with his new show, 'Where You From?'

'Where You From?' brings together the very best of Lenny Henry, it's an electrifying mix of stand-up, music, character comedy and unexpected pathos all wrapped in his warm comic take on our world.

A cult star on television and one of Britain's best-known and loved personalities, Lenny has toured New Zealand three times to great acclaim. Since his last tour in 2004 he has continued to delight and entertain audiences around the world with his roles in film, TV and documentaries, but live performance reveals the true genius of Lenny Henry.

"He is a comedian, impressionist, singer and serious actor. His appeal is classless and ageless" Daily Telegraph, London

"Remarkable and exhilarating observational comedy" Financial Times London

"Brilliant... a stunning breakthrough for stand-up comedy" Daily Mail, London

A poor mountaineer, barely kept me family fed,
Then one day I was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude.
Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.
Well the first thing you know ol' me's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said Kim move away from here
Said Californy is the place you oughta be
So we loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.
    Hills, that is.
    Swimmin pools, movie stars.

I was born in a part of Canada where my Mum used to have to take the hair dryer to the door to unfreeze it enough to get outside. I would go for month when I was a baby and never see sunlight it was so cold! Now I have traded that for lovely tropical Auckland (I try and remind myself it's tropical as I freeze inside my house :P )

I am from Auckland and absolutely a city girl. I have only tried bigger not smaller as in Sydney, London & Glasgow so maybe size does matter after all. The fact we have decent beaches as well is an amazing bonus

I am originally from a very small 200 population town in Australia, called Yuleba (I was not procreated there). It's hilarious because it is rarely on any maps and all my neighbours where related to each other in one way or another. Got to love small town sexy times! HA!

I'll tell you why, but only because you've asked. Okay, here goes, I'm from Pukekohe! SOUTH AUCKLAND!!! Nothing wrong with that, only if your John Hawkesby, maybe. I remember the telethon we had in the early 1990's and two cast member's from Coronation Street came out for it, Barbara Knox, who plays Rita Fairclough and Kevin Kennedy who played Curly Watts, well, it was time for someone to make a trip to Pukekohe and Johnny boy told Kiwi's that good old Kevvie would go to Puke to collect some money for the charity, before adding, "well somebody had to go there, I suppose!!" I felt humiliated, aggreived, insulted, you name it, I felt it!. Now looking back on it I think it's the funniest thing he said that day. Poor little me was just too young and sensitive to get it. If your from Pukekohe, say it with pride, cos nobody else will!

I was born in Gisborne, but became an Aucklander when I was 4, so yes, I'm a JAFA (hey, don't hold it against me, I was too young to know what I was doing! Add to that the fact that I now have to sit in trafiic for an hour and a half each day to get over the bridge, and I think I've been punished enough!).
