This is the premier Maori Performing Arts & Cultural Festival of its type for the Tainui Waka region. Over 500 traditional Maori Performing Artists will be competing at the event in groups of up to forty performers. Each group will have a maximum of 30 minutes to perform seven items including Haka, Poi, Action Songs and Traditional Chants. Spectators will therefore be treated to the full spectrum of Kapa Haka (Traditional Maori Performing Arts).
The festival also features an exciting line up of contemporary Maori entertainers and artists including local reggae band sensation - Katchafire! A wide range of Maori arts, tatooists, crafts, clothing and food stalls will also be present.
