With a cast of 2000, more than 20 brass and pipe bands from New Zealand and overseas, armoured vehicles, field guns, helicopters, mock battles and an Air Force flypast, New Zealanders and tourists are in for a huge treat when the country's largest military tattoo comes to Rotorua.

Each breathtaking evening of entertainment will reach a rousing conclusion with a re-enactment performance of Tchaikovsky’s famous 1812 Overture, complete with bands, choirs, dancers, cannons and fireworks.

"We will be staging a spectacular two and a half hour show on each night with a breathtaking array of non-stop entertainment including New Zealand's famous Defence Force bands. There will be brass bands and pipe bands galore, three of which will be from overseas:

- The Band of the Her Majesty’s Royal Marines from the UK
- The Royal Netherlands Military Police Band
- The Tasmanian Police Pipe Band.

"We're also particularly proud that the tattoo will have a uniquely Rotorua flavour with a special tribute being paid to veterans and to the Maori Battalion. That's bound to be a moving part of each night's events, that's for sure."
