New Zealand’s premier sporting showcase, the Westpac Halberg Awards are set to embrace the Academy Awards ‘Red Carpet’ treatment.
The night will be a glittering televised Academy Awards style presentation in the James Hay Theatre at 6.30pm followed by the traditional dinner in the adjacent Christchurch Convention Centre at 8pm highlighted by a special tribute to one of New Zealand’s most respected sporting icons.
World Championship winners Mahe Drysdale (rowing), Valerie Vili (athletics), Sarah Walker (BMX cycling), Katherine Prumm (motocross), Nicole Begg (in line skating), Duncan Grant (rowing), the coxless four (rowing), and the NZ Sevens (rugby) team are all nominees for awards.
