The eccentric, fabulous and prodigiously talented Rufus Wainwright is coming to New Zealand for the first time. Performing February 2008, and promises to be a heart-stopping, unmissable evening for fans of eminently sophisticated songwriting and heavenly musical orchestration.
His current show is a lovingly detailed, musically varied tour-de-force, which has been garnering praise from critics in Europe and The United States.
The tour is in support of his latest and fifth album, 2007's Release the Stars. It's a gorgeous record which features in his current set list, and has been receiving four star reviews wherever it lands.
Longer term, and newly inducted fans of Rufus Wainwright are destined to be entirely satisfied, and yet left wanting more after attending these concerts.
