Christmas At The Bowl 2008

This is Taranaki’s celebration of Christmas in the beautiful setting of the world acclaimed TSB Bowl of Brooklands' scheduled on Sunday 14 December 2008. “Santa’s List” celebrates Taranaki Achievers and the spirit of Christmas with a host of local talent guaranteed to entertain the whole family.

Gates open early to this iconic Taranaki venue so bring along the family and your picnic dinner to really enjoy the atmosphere of the whole evening. Pre-show entertainment will have you singing and dancing with the covers band “Niteshift” from 7.00pm and then we will astound you with a wealth of Taranaki Achievers all certain to get on “Santa's List” this year.

Marigold and her magical faerie friends will be in attendance to meet with the children and collect their letters to Santa prior to the show. Glen Bennett and Toni Street are the two guest emcees for the evening introducing you, and Santa, to a wealth of Taranaki talent. Contributing groups include the “Central Crackers” Kids Choir; “Beats Per Minute”; Morgan Bamford and dancers from the Lawrie Studio of Highland Dancing; and the Nga Purapura O Te Taihauauru kapa haka team from Waitara – just to name a few. There will also be guest appearances by a number of outstanding locals and special interest groups - It is truly a Taranaki show for Taranaki people and of course, Santa will be there ensuring no one is missed from his list!

The New Plymouth Brass Band, conducted by Bryce Gordon; will entertain throughout the night, accompanied by the Taranaki Harmony Chorus and lead sing-alongs with all the great Christmas favourites like Jingle Bell Rock, O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, Away In A Manger and Rudolf The Rednosed Reindeer!

Entry is by gold coin donation only and complimentary candles with holders and songbooks will be distributed. This is a night to arrive early, bring the picnic hampers, the family and the rugs for a Christmas Spectacular. At the conclusion of the show, approximately 9.45pm, sit back, look skyward and enjoy our Christmas At The Bowl Fireworks Extravaganza.

A remarkable community event, the 2008 Christmas At The Bowl is made possible by the generous sponsorship of TSB Community Trust, NZ Community Trust, Fitzroy Yachts NZ, Powerco, Classic Hits and TAFT. It is an extra special night as it also marks the official opening of the TSB Bank Festival of Lights which will run in Pukekura Park from 14th December 2008 to 8th February 2009.
