Canterbury takes on reigning champions Auckland in the 2008 Air New Zealand Cup. Canterbury will want to exact revenge on their northern rivals after losing the Ranfurly Shield to the blue and whites during last year's campaign.

With a mixture of young talent and some familiar faces in the Canterbury team, they will be striving towards their first championship since 2004.
