It's the CD release party for the long-awaited new album from The Ponsonby DC's "That's What All the Girls Say".
The vocal section of the Ponsonby DC's (Pete, Janelle and Gavin) will perform all the classic songs from both albums with two bands - Polyvocal Hyperjive and The Remittance Men.
Gavin Buxton, Janelle Aston and Peter Evans are the vocal section of The Ponsonby DC’s , an Auckland band of the 1980s that released an album and the single G’Day Mate to much critical acclaim in 1986. When that album was released on CD in 2005 it was included in Radio NZ critic Nick Bollinger’s top ten international albums of the year in The Listener. The band’s bass and guitar player, Keith Dion, who lives in San Francisco, visited Christchurch last year and the band got together and recorded the new album entitled “That’s What All The Girl’s Say”.
The launch party will be a romp through the entire PonsonbyDC’s repertoire of quirky, humorous and insightful songs in the band’s trademark Kiwi vernacular style. Evans, Aston and Buxton’s well honed vocal harmonies will be featured prominently and the vocal trio will backed by local musicians Jae Renaut and Mike Watt and also by Buxton’s current rock band The Remittance Men.
Doors open from 7.00pm, band from 8.00pm.
