This stunning production addresses a wide range of national, international, historical, social and cultural themes bound in a performance that explores the differences and the commonalities of two cultures.

It is set in the run up to the US bombing of the historic abbey on Monte Casino in Italy in February 1944.

Performed in English, Te Reo Maori and Italian, Strange Resting Places interweaves of Maori and Italian traditions, and combines fiction with history through story, song and numerous hilarious and moving characters.

Two of New Zealand's finest actors, Paolo Rotondo and Rob Mokaraka, trace the stories and personal experiences of the Maori Battalion in Italy during WWII.
