THIS SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED!

For the first time in New Zealand, cult hero Jamie Kennedy brings his high-octane, off beat stand up show to Sky City Theatre.

Kennedy is best known for his popular TV show ‘The Jamie Kennedy Experiment’, a ‘Candid Camera’ meets ‘Saturday Night Live’ program combining irreverent on-the-street sneak attacks and elaborate pranks captured by hidden camera, with a live studio audience.

Even though he was bitten by the acting bug early in life - as an extra in ‘Dead Poets Society’ - Kennedy says his first love remains stand-up comedy, which he's been doing steadily since he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19. "It's just something that is totally live," said Kennedy. "You get great feedback right away of what works and what doesn't. Plus, it was just another way to practice acting."

Kennedy’s big break came when he was cast in Baz Luhrmann's ‘Romeo + Juliet’, but his role in Wes Craven's ‘Scream’ - which broke box office records and landed Kennedy with a Blockbuster Best Supporting Actor Award - put his name on the Hollywood map. Kennedy has acted in many movies including ‘As Good as It Gets’, ‘Enemy of the State’, ‘Bowfinger’, ‘Three Kings’ and ‘Son of Mask’.

In 2002 ‘The Jamie Kennedy Experiment’ (JKX) was born. JKX quickly became The WB's highest-ranking new show, attracting three million viewers each week. Jamie went on to write and star in ‘Malibu's Most Wanted’, a movie based on his most popular character, Brad Gluckman, a wanna-be white rapper.

On his busy film and television schedule that doesn’t leave much time for stand-up Jamie says "I make time because it’s a cool gig and its fun. I’ve done stand-up my whole life. I’m not really known for it, but that’s where I came up with the show idea."
