"Students of the Department of Design Studies at the University of Otago present a selection of short films with uncertain levels of embedded truth." Seven short films will be represented on a variety of themes. They are entitled: Jean, 1-18-08, The Naked Truth, Party Pills, Mr Wang's Kitchen, Tainted Water, and Mega Memory 3000. Screenings commence at around 6PM at The Backstage Theatre in Bath Street intermediate lower Octagon [up from Tull]. This event runs in conjunction with Design Studies Garageband Idol 2.0 that entails entries from student using this musical interactive computer software.

One film is Tainted Water 212112: A FILM ALL ABOUT WAITATI. University of Otago Design Studies students Team: consisting of Lucy Chapman, Catherine Duthie, Dell McLeod, and the gorgeous Julia Roiter Berensztejn provide us with a compelling mockumentary in 'Tainted Water 212112' that is advocating an Armegeddon at Waitaiti, the artists enclave north of Dunedin. There is something odd about the water was the first indicator... a Dunedin City Council sign says it all..they say seeing is believing but can we believe what we are about to see... “Of all the dates put forth by prophets and cultures for a doomsday, this is one with an authentic almost eerie feel to it. But what will happen? A global cataclysm is one possibility.” http://trueliesfestival.wordpress.com/tainted-water/ This short film is part of the TRUELIES FESTIVAL to be held at 'THE BACKSTAGE' Theatre in Bath Street, Dunedin on September 27th 2007 at 6pm. Tickets are onsale now at $5 and pleading poverty is no good at OUSA & Design Studies Reception Office in the CAPSC building at University of Otago. And 'If Sir would like some grilled dog to go with that', be sure to watch 'Mr Wang' a gripping tale of canine culinary horror bound to make Rick Stein pale by comparison. This film exposes or reinforces racial stereotypes in a postcolonial New Zealand [ if you are sqeamish and like dogs don't watch it]. There are many other films also of a high professional calibre like a mockumentary dealing with PCP and narcolepsy. Did I forget to mention the expose' on the Elderly NUDITY problem in Dunedin..well HASH Brown will reveal all in The Naked Truth...starring Hamish McClurg who kicks up a storm in North Dunedin, this film is gauranteed to bring the house down.

The crews are:

Jean: Sian O’Gorman, Amy-Rose Goulding, Chien-Fen Hung, Olivia Young, Sarah White.

"In the fire, the king will come. Thunder rolls, piper and drum. Evil sons, overrun, Count their sins - judgment comes. The checkerboard of nights and days - Man will die, man be saved. The sky will fall, the earth will pray, When judgment comes to claim its day…" Wishbone Ash - 'King Will Come'(1972).

JUDGE These students for yourself… BE THERE
