Skint at The Loons

Hard rock music powered by superb musicianship, and an impressive light
show were the trademarks of Skint when they played The Loons last week
- and they will do it all again this Friday.

Last week, the audience were on their feet for the high-energy show that rocked
The Loons for four hours, hardly able to believe they were getting a
five star band for a mere $5 door charge.

Drummer Jimmy James has two world tours under his belt and was drummer
for The Chills before returning to Christchurch. Brothers Chris and
Dave Baker, on vocals and guitar, match Jimmy’s style, leaving no
doubt that what matters to these guys is the music, played loud and
played hard. The sets combine hard-edged, driving originals with covers
from the likes of Muse, Tool and System.

As a group, Skint is a tight outfit that has developed a cult following
over the years. They now pick and choose their venues, particularly as
they are currently recording a new album. Fortunately for Lyttelton,
they chose The Loons for a three week residency – the final show is
this Friday.

The Loons atmosphere is unique, the drinks are very reasonable and the
sound, light and staging are all top notch. With a band like Skint at
the helm, The Loons rocks, loud and clear.
