GLOBALfest

Rotorua is set to be the scene of a global village this October, for the city’s first ever GLOBALfest - a celebration of the different cultures that make up Rotorua. Enjoy the music, dance, food, games and more.

GLOBALfest will be held at the Rotorua International Stadium on Saturday October 27th, from 12 - 8pm.

The full day event will include a variety of different “community villages”, each showcasing elements of different cultures such as food, greetings, crafts, activities and games. There will also be a central stage where musicians, dancers and performers will entertain all day.

Pre festival activities include a childrens poster competition and skyart workshops for schools and public. Also enter the competition to create a passport stamp for the cultural groups.

The event has come about from a desire to bring Rotorua’s different cultures together to celebrate diversity and different traditions, religions and backgrounds.

Rotorua is an absolute melting pot of culture, language, custom and music. GLOBALfest brings this melting pot of diversity together in one place to provide people with the opportunity to access and learn about the different cultures that make our community unique.

GLOBALfest has received the endorsement of the Rotorua Ethinc Council along with Grahame and Sandy Hall supporting GLOBALfest as the patrons.. The festival has also been greatly supported by Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust, Community First Foundation, Caversham Foundation, Creative Communities NZ and the Rotorua District Council.
