New Zealand’s favourite twins Lynda and Jools Topp will undertake their first National tour since Jools was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year. The Recovery Tour will be staged in October to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness month, with the Topp Twins donating a percentage of proceeds to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
Featuring the Best of the Topp Twins from the last 25 years the live show will also introduce new songs and hilarious new comedy from the Bowling Ladies " Mavis and Lorna " who appeared in the Topp’s last TV series. Best of friends since meeting at the Crematorium (their husbands were cremated on the same day), Mavis and Lorna spend their time travelling to bowling tournaments throughout New Zealand. Keen gardeners, Mavis and Lorna are always on the scout for new cuttings to take home and root.
The Topp Twins will also present rising new star, Cameron Luxton, who is only 12 years old but already charming audiences with his mature voice and stage presence. Cameron was the Junior Overall Winner at the 2006 Gold Guitars and has performed with the Topp Twins at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Australia.
The Topp Twins Recovery Tour will be a celebration of life, with love and laughter - the perfect tonic Jools credits for her return to health. Jools would like to extend her thanks for the enormous support and encouragement she received during her battle with Cancer. Says Jools, “I’m looking forward to getting back on the road, the last year has been a long hard challenge but I am now ready for a new one - making sure NZ audiences get a great night out. See you in October New Zealand!”
The NZ Film Commission have just announced they will finance a documentary feature film about the Topp Twins’ lifestory, and 25 years of NZ history. The Topp Twins, Untouchable Girls, will be directed by award-winning documentary director, Leanne Pooley, and starts production in October.
“The NZFC is delighted to be able to partner in a feature documentary about the Topp Twins. It is about time they added the big screen to their list of achievements.” says Ruth Harley, CEO NZFC
