Once upon a time, a young woman dreamed of more. More than the drudgery and despair she suffered at the hands of her cruel stepmother and stepsisters; more than the cinders she swept away and the rags she wore.
From the desperate loneliness of her mother's grave to the chandelier-lined splendour of the Palace Ball, the Royal New Zealand Ballet brings to life the much-loved fairytale Cinderella.
In a lavishly beautiful production, The Lion Foundation Season of Cinderella will surprise and delight audiences of all ages.
Celebrated UK choreographer Christopher Hampson (Esquisses) reunites with New Zealand's own designer Tracy Grant (The Wedding) to re-tell this familiar story like never before.
It's the first time Hampson and Grant have worked together since their outstanding collaboration for the company's 50th anniversary production of Romeo and Juliet in 2003, and its standout season at Sadler's Wells Theatre in London in 2004.
Sergei Prokofiev's jubilant score completes a never-seen -before production of Cinderella that promises a theatrical experience filled with unforgettable moments of dance.
Choreography: Christopher Hampson
