2007 Auckland Diwali Festival of Lights

The sixth Diwali Festival of Lights brings all the energy, colours, sounds and spicy aromas of India to downtown Auckland. Enjoy non-stop entertainment from the vibrant Bollywood dance competition to stylish classical Bharat Natyam dance. Plus of course our visiting performers from India and special activities for children. Browse the Indian craft stalls, and stuff yourself silly at the fabulous authentic Indian food and sweets stalls.

The annual Diwali Festival is organised by Asia New Zealand Foundation in partnership with Auckland City Council. It celebrates the triumphal return of Lord Rama to his kingdom of Ayodhya after 14 years in exile. It also marks the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and goodness over evil.

On the evenings of October 25 and 26, classical concerts will be held in the 500-seat Pavilion in Britomart East.
