New Zealand's first Indoor International Rodeo

Saddle up ladies and gentlemen because November 17th 2007 will see Christchurch's Westpac Centre filled with Cowboys, Cowgirls, Bulls, Horses and some clowns.

Christchurch based event management company International Rodeo Productions has spent 2 years planning NZ's first ever indoor rodeo and what a show it's going to be.

The International Rodeo will feature four rodeo events: bull ride, saddle bronc, bareback bronc, and an exciting cowgirl barrel racing challenge. The International Rodeo will also feature international entertainment acts from New Zealand and Australia. It will feature riders from Brazil, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

International Rodeo promoter Craig Douglas said that he thought of the idea of putting a rodeo into Christchurch's Westpac Centre after attending the International Rodeo in Melbourne. "I saw how popular rodeo is getting and thought why not bring the rodeo to the city instead of the city going to the rodeo." Christchurch's Westpac Centre is NZ's largest indoor facility and will hold up to 6300 spectators on the night.

The idea of hosting the International Rodeo indoors will allow for more atmosphere, extravagant lighting, big screen TV, pyro effects and is expected to attract more of the "never seen rodeo before" crowd.

Held at the end of Canterbury's Cup & Show Week, the International Rodeo will be an attraction for the whole family and an early sell out crowd is expected for the Saturday night show. The International Rodeo will be a never seen before attraction and spectators can expect to see clown acts, live music, and some of the world's best rodeo competitors as they battle the Kiwis for rodeo domination.

The International Rodeo will be featured on TV3 and replayed on Sky Sport and Sky Sport 2.

Tickets will go on sale from Ticketek in May 2007 and spectators are urged to hurry as they aren't expected to last long. Adults from $50 Children from $30. www.rodeogp.co.nz

    RODEOS!!!

PLEASE people..ignore the comment below as it is not entirly correct!!!

For starters..The animals that are used at the rodeos are only used for one maybe 2 rodeos a year! and they are only riden once at each rodeo!!the rest of the year they spend their days in lush green paddocks. Plus another point is that it saves the horses from slaughter and gives them something to do with there lives. when you watch the animals buck..some seem to enjoy there job.

SO PLEASE. GO TO A RODEO AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF!! DONT LISTEN TO THE COMMENT BELOW!!
