The brilliance of the Italian art and architecture of the 17th and 18th century was reflected in its music: the outstanding name is that of Vivaldi, composer of “The Four Seasons” and almost 500 other concerti. The “Red Priest”, as he was known, was one of many extraordinary artists, and the riches of Italian music in this period are incomparable.
