Hailing from Gifu Prefecture, Hashima Taiko has been mesmerizing audience around Japan for many years, with powerful, spellbinding and propulsive sounds of the traditional Japanese “taiko” drums.
Hashima Taiko expresses the beauty and harmony of the human spirit through the voice of the taiko as they strive to create new dimensions in movement and music.
This is the group's first time in New Zealand and they’re only performing one show in Auckland.
Hashima Taiko have invited Auckland-based world music group ‘Many Hands’ to perform alongside them in a unique concert event at the ASB Theatre, that will fuse the traditional with the modern into a dizzying blend of multicultural world music.
