Acclaimed Irish group Gráda make a much awaited return to New Zealand after a three year absence. This ground breaking band is touring their new CD Cloudy Day Navigation, and features some of the finest exponents of Irish music, including Lord of the Rings flautist Alan Doherty and Manchester fiddle player, Colin Farrell.
The group is a shining exponent of a “Nu-Folk” drive that is currently sweeping across Europe and the USA. Their music is grounded in Irish tradition, but is blended with elements of jazz, folk, world and Celtic music styles. Their unique diversity has seen them step out of the traditional concert settings for Irish groups, leading to invitations to play at a diverse array of events, such as the Glastonbury Festival in the UK, The Rochester International Jazz Festival in New York, and the South By Southwest Festival in Texas, USA.
