A timeless American classic comedy written by Kaufman and Hart as an antidote for the Great Depression.

This comedy of gentle satire, cornflakes and candy is pure magic. It is a tale of a feckless household of wierdos, hangers-on, and dropouts headed by Martin Vaanderhof who has accumulated a lifetime of tax demands which have finally caught up on him.

Grand-daughter Alice Sycamore, a stenographer and her boss fall in love at work and become engaged. When the time comes for this couple to introduce one another to their families, Alice panics. One family is wealthy, conservative and thrives on on business while the other strives for lifelong happiness. She knows there is no chance the families could possibly bond.

Polar opposites in life-style and philosophy, the meeting of these families creates an atmosphere for zany physical comedy. The family characters are heartwarming, loveable and funny.

Directed by Carol Dumbleton.

Tickets on sale from April.
