After five sell out years (2002 to 2006), The 5 Star International Comedy Preview on Thu May 3rd needs little introduction to Auckland Comedy Festival audiences.

For many punters it is a chance to taste some of the big flavours on offer during the 2007 NZ International Comedy Festival which runs for three weeks from Fri May 4 to Sat 26 May.

The 5 Star International Comedy Preview features some interesting new flavours including, ALUN COCHRANE from England and MICKEY D, a popular Australian comedian who has a big reputation for his abilities as an MC in Edinburgh.

They will be joined in the 2007 5 STAR by the return of festival favourite PHIL NICHOL from Canada and fellow Canadian, CRAIG CAMPBELL.

CAMPBELL, who has performed in Auckland at 3 previous festival returns to The Classic to help celebrate the venues 10th birthday. He replaces the previous listed RICH HALL who has had to cancel his visit in 2007.

PHIL NICHOL stormed the 2006 Comedy Festival with his controversial one man show ‘NEARLY GAY’. He returns in 2007 with his new show – THE NAKED RACIST – Winner of the award for Best Comedy Show at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe.

In addition to CRAIG CAMPBELL, ALUN COCHRANE, MICKEY D and PHIL NICHOL there will be some surprise guest cameos by other Comedy Festival headliners including New Zealand’s own BEN HURLEY, returning from the UK.
