The Petone Winter Carnival offers a cluster of events for the whole family including chalk art drawing, circus and flying trapeze workshops, a polar plunge into the chilly Wellington Harbour, a spectacular and awe-inspiring series of high-wire circus acts, a visual art installation exploring Petone's link with migration, live DJ performances and the finale - the breath-taking Pelorus Trust Fireshow.

The Petone Winter Carnival has something for everyone. So shake off the winter blues and prepare to be astonished, delighted and exhilarated!

11.00am - 4.00pm - CHALK IT - Using chalk you have the chance to create some artwork on the pavement along Petone Foreshore. We'll provide the chalk and you transform the foreshore with colour, inspiration and creativity.

2.00pm - POLAR PLUNGE - Join the team from Classic Hits 90FM and take mid-winters madness to a new level be braving Wellington Harbour's icy waters! Show your support by entering the event in the most outrageous and colourful costume you can find and be into win some great prizes. Bring the whole family down and take the plunge!

3.00pm - 5.00pm - CHILLS CIRCUS WORKSHOPS - Get down to the Settlers Museum and try the free workshops in all the skills of the circus, from flying trapexe to juggling and unicycling. A great opportunity for families, young and old, to enjoy the kaleidoscope of circus skilss and wandering performances.

3.00pm - 8.00pm - ICY SHIPS & SNOWFLAKES - See an ice-sculptor carve a block of ice into a spectacular icy creation and then watch it melt away! Get your face painted with a snowflake or a rain drop, and come in out of the cold to visit our exhibition "Give us an H", celebrating quirky facts about the Hutt Valley.

6.15pm - 7.15pm - THRILLS CIRCUS PERFORMANCE - Hang out and be amazed by the spell-binding and spectacular outdoor performances featuring fire, music and NZ's hottest circus artists.

6.00pm - 7.15pm (Part one) & 7.45pm - 9.00pm (Part two) - PETONE STORYBOX LIVE - Petone Storybox is a stunning large-scale video installation of moving image & sounds, projected from two 20ft shipping containers on the Petone Foreshore! Visual artist Robert Appierdo (Dnation Creative) celebrates Petone's relationship to migration, settlement and the notion of attachment to the land. Join some of Wellington's top electronica musicians as they perform live to the Petone Storybox, ensuring an enthralling audio-visual experience.

7.30pm - THE PELOURS TRUST FIRESHOW - Don't miss this breathtaking firework spectacular proudly presented by Hutt City Council and the Pelours Trust. Come down to Petone Foreshore in the early evening to soak up the carnival atmosphere, then witness the colour and excitemnt of this fantastic public firesworks display, simulcast live on Classic Hits 90FM.
