He grew up in Longreach in Central Queensland the son of a sheep shearer. Moved to the Gold Coast where he became a roof-tiler, moved to Sydney and decided to walk on stage at the Harold Park Hotel one night, told everyone how a bird had poo-ed on him that day and the rest - as they say - is history.

Carl has trod the boards throughout Australia, New York, L.A, London, Auckland, Ireland, Singapore, Edinburgh and has been invited twice to the prestigious Montreal International Comedy Festival in the past 5 years, and has appeared on 'The Footy Show' in Australia and ROVE LIVE more than any other comedian.

His first trip to New Zealand was to the 2005 International Comedy Festival where he completely sold out the Concert Chambers and was voted 'Best International Show'.

Carl has released two DVDs in Australia. The first one, 'Carl Barron Live' is the highest selling stand-up comedy DVD in Australian retail history, having now sold more than 200 000 copies and is still going strong. This is far in excess of such global comedy luminaries such as Billy Connelly, Jerry Seinfeld and Robin Williams. His current release, 'Whatever Comes Next', has now sold 150 000 units.

People of all ages and from all walks of life are instinctively drawn to Carl's unique brand of humour - because it's about us. It's how we see ourselves and we laugh like hyenas because we've all said and done those things... more than once...

Maybe it's his big brown eyes or his almost shy, uncanny observations of everyday life, but it doesn’t seem to matter where Carl Barron decides to perform - it sells out. It's why he is loved the world over. He's been doing stand-up for well over a decade and tours relentlessly all across the world. Invitations to prestigious international festivals are all taken in his stride and are as important as a local Friday night gig around the corner.

He's no fake, just a bloke who loves what he does - communicating and making people laugh.

'But the star of the evening is Carl Barron, who has the audience in fits with his resonating observations of common experiences. With a dead-pan expression breaking out into gleaming wickedness, this skinny Gandhi-like comedian turns the tables on the mundane...' The Scotsman
