The Blackcaps and Sri Lanka are two major contenders for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 and New Zealand cricket fans can see them close up in this summer's The National Bank ODI Series.
The teams know each other inside out, but both are unpredictable performers and capable of producing the very best limited-overs cricket around.
The visitors will be determined to reverse last year's series defeat, with the Blackcaps out to build on their run to the ICC Champions Trophy semi-finals.
Sri Lanka will provide a dangerous combination of experienced campaigners and raw talent.
Old stagers such as Muttiah Muralidaran, Sanath Jayasuriya and Marvin Atapattu form a strong core to allow emerging stars such as top-order batsman Upul Tharanga and pace bowler Lasith Malinga to thrive.
But the Blackcaps uniquely talented and versatile squad will be strong favourites to claim a third successive ODI series on home turf.
