SKYCITY is delighted to announce the magical SKYCITY Starlight Symphony will be returning to the Auckland Domain on Saturday 24th February 2007.
The 2007 SKYCITY Starlight Symphony promises to be as thrilling as ever with highlights including performances from Boh Runga (Stellar*), Andy Lovegrove (Breaks Co-op) and Geoff Sewell (of Amici fame); as well as The Lady Killers (Jackie Clarke, Tina Cross, Taisha and Suzanne Lynch), Frankie Stevens, NZ Idols Matt and Indira, conductor Marc Toddei with the Auckland Philharmonia, and John Rosser conducting the SKYCITY Massed Choir.
John Campbell and Carol Hirschfeld will return to the stage to host the evening which will be rounded off by Mercury Energy's spectacular laser light show.
This year Starship Foundation has been selected as the charity recipient of funds raised at Starlight Symphony. The charge will be led by charity ambassador Kerre Woodham.
During the course of the evening volunteers will be collecting donations and selling balloons and lightsticks. Bring along a gold coin - your loose change will help children with diabetes lead full and active lives. Funds raised will change the lives of 30+ diabetes patients, ranging from 3 to 15 years, waiting to go on a pump. The pumps deliver insulin throughout the day, avoiding the need for children to have to inject insulin regularly - as is the current practise.
This allows patients better control over their diabetes and there is less risk long term for diabetes-related complications including eye and kidney disease. It also dramatically improves their quality of life and reduces risk of low blood sugar.
