MEDIA RELEASE: 24 DEC 07
It has been a trying two weeks for the organisers of Mercury Rising 07. The prevailing easterly conditions over the Coromandel have bought higher than average rainfall to the region. More rain is predicted over the coming week. The impact of this weather has meant all work scheduled to apply site infrastructure since last Tuesday December 18 has not been completed.

A decision was made after a site inspection this afternoon to cancel the New Years event for 2007. The chance of essential works not being completed before access is required is greater than the chance of the necessary access being completed in time for the event.

Ticket refunds will be available from point of purchase. If the point of purchase is closed over the next few days the refunds will be available immediately upon reopening after the break.

Promoter Manolo Echave has stated “We know this will be a great disappointment to all those who chose to spend their New Years with the great lineup of NZ talent that was scheduled for MR07. It is a far greater disappointment for us to not be able to get the fans and the bands together. Unusual weather conditions have in this instance put an insurmountable barrier before us.”

For further information there will be email contact at nye07@hotmail.com from Dec 28 or there will be an info hotline attended from Jan 4 at (07) 867 1415.

I had a terrible year 2007, for my new year's revolution this negative will be changed into a positive. Not only will I quit the terrible habit of smoking but I will start going to the gym and start working off this christmas fat. My girlfriend just broke up with me but next year I am not going to rush into another relationship but rather enjoy being single and living the bachelor lifestyle, starting at Mercury Rising the best way to see in the new year!

I really hope they do a better job of orginising than last year. I told my self I would not go again as last year was so badly orginised, but will be checking it out this year again for a few reasons.
I heard they are re doing it well this year which is all good but the last one there was not proper water facilites available unless you wanted to cue to buy a tiny bottle of water off some good looking chick for like $3. Then you had to cue for fu*#kn ages to get some alcohol tickets in order to then cue again way on the other side of the feild for your booze away from the music.
Looking forward to it though even though I sound like a complaining prick.

    Cheers
