The main Firefighters Combat Challenge involves teams of Firefighters from the upper North Island competing. The firefighters will be clothed in “full bunker gear” and breathing apparatus, pairs of competitors simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting by performing a linked series of 5 tasks, including climbing the 5-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing a life-sized 80kg “victim” as they race against themselves, their opponent and the clock.
As part of this grand Firefighters Challenge, The Rotary Club of Waitakere City are proud to be bringing you New Zealand’s first Kids Combat Challenge.
Set up alongside the Firefighters course within the Britomart complex, there will be an area cordoned off for a kids sized challenge.
Children get kitted out in mini firefighting uniforms ready to perform the tasks on our gigantic inflatable course of sprinting along tunnels, scaling walls, tackling obstacles and racing through to the finish. Children can complete the task individually or can enter the inflatable structure in pairs; and challenge each other.
All funds raised at the 2 events will be donated to the Children’s Burns Unit at Middlemore hospital.
