The Cure are returning to New Zealand for the first time in 15 years, promising a stunning almost-3 hour long set of music drawn from throughout their 30 year career.
One of the most enduring groups to grace the world's stages, The Cure, renowned for their stunning lighting, stage design and in-concert visuals, continue to entrance their fans, with the release of a new album anticipated in late 2007.
The Cure will headline Japan's Fuji Festival in July, moving on to Hong Kong, Singapore and then to our shores this August. North American dates follow, including San Francisco's Download Festival.
The Cure are:
Robert Smith - vocals and guitar
Jason Cooper - drums
Porl Thompson - guitar
Simon Gallup - bass
During their endearingly eccentric and brilliant career the ever-evolving Cure have maintained their mastery of the atmospheric, often mournful, sometimes brutal but always hauntingly beautiful soundscapes created by Robert Smith.
The Cure's discography - dating back to their 1979 debut Three Imaginary Boys - comprises 12 studio and multiple live and compilation albums, plus numerous highly successful singles that include Boys Don't Cry, A Forest, Primary, The Hanging Garden, Let's Go To Bed, The Lovecats, The Caterpillar, Inbetween Days, Close To Me, and Friday I'm In Love.
Whilst we take in The Cure's latest CD/DVD Festival 2005 and eagerly await the release of their 13th studio album, make a date to get reacquainted with The Cure at their most captivating, live in concert.
