Royal Easter Show

A little bit of Hollywood hits this year's Royal Easter Show with Over the Hedge, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck headlining the event, on from 5 to 9 April in Auckland.

In New Zealand for the first time and exclusive to the Royal Easter Show, the show version of DreamWorks' animated hit Over the Hedge features the voices of Bruce Willis and Garry Shandling and characters RJ, Hammy and Verne in an all-singing, all-dancing live musical adventure.

From cartoon classic Looney Tunes, Bugs and Daffy also feature live on stage in the Looney Loot Show, a fantastical tale full of singing, dancing and fun for the audience.

New Zealand's largest and most varied family festival, the 164 year-old Royal Easter Show has something for everyone with new international acts each year along with a host of other attractions.

The Cadbury Crème Egg Circus EGGstravaganza is back with an all-new circus spectacular featuring the globe of death, agile acrobats and trapeze artists, comical clowns and Cadbury's The Great Bunny with lots of yummy Cadbury treats for good girls and boys.

Sure to please young fans, SKY's Nickelodeon TV stars Cosmo and Wanda from the Fairly Odd Parents, Dora the Explorer, and SpongeBob SquarePants and his sidekick Patrick are onsite each day to meet and greet.

For all ages, the Freddy Mercury Experience takes the main stage each evening with a tribute show to Freddy Mercury and Queen, while hypnotist Guy Cater and comedy acrobatic duo Pop Eyed entertain on the outside stage.

After the success of last year's inaugural event, the Great New Zealand Letterbox Competition is on again, with top entries from around the country on display and an overall winner determined by public vote. Kiwi Loggersports are also back with their mind-boggling display of gravity defying logrolling, chain saw carving and axe throwing.

All the old favourites remain including the ever-popular carnival, street entertainers, The Great Cadbury Bunny Show, Royal Easter Cat Show and the Royal Easter Show Wine Awards.

A piece of country comes to town with the A&P show and its animal displays and competitions, the Lion Foundation Royal Easter Show Shears competition, and Farmworld where kids can get up close to learn about farm animals.

And for art fans, the Royal Easter Show Art Awards New Zealand's largest art competition and the inaugural International Student Art Competition run by Rotary see hundreds of artworks on show and for sale.

The redevelopment of the ASB Showgrounds means visitors to this year's show will be among the first to enjoy the ground's new facilities, halls and buildings.

The Royal Easter Show is on from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 April 2007 9am-9pm and Monday 9 April 2007 9am-6pm. Parking is available in the adjacent Pururi Drive Football Fields.

And remember, your family pass or entry ticket gives you access to all shows and attractions (excluding carnival rides) at no extra cost!

Family passes are available for only $36 (for up to five), representing great value. Adults are $16, senior citizens $11, children $6 and under-2s for free.
