Opotiki Welcomes you for the third Silent Film Festival at the Deluxe Theatre from 1-3 September 2006.
A three day extravaganza featuring films from the Silent Era. Live piano accompaniment for all feature films, along with short films and newsreels from the period.

The films featured will be Tarzan of the Apes (1918), The Black Pirate with Douglas Fairbanks (1926), Under the Southern Cross a NZ film (1929) and Opotiki Archive Films. All these films will in shown in the big theatre, accompanied by Tama Karena on the Bechstein Grand Piano. All patrons are encouraged to dress in the period - spot prizes for best dressed.

In the Little theatre will be Birth of a Nation- DW Griffith's epic ((1915) and The Kid with Charlie Chaplin (1921)
Local restaurents will be getting into the spirit of the film festival and will be offering special meals for the three days, before each film.
