The South Islands largest cycling event. A great course with spectacular views. One of the toughest cycling events - but accessible for most people as a team entry. It's fun, it's challenging.

The Christchurch to Akaroa cycling event, is to be held for the eigth time on Saturday 25 March and is open to both road and mountain bikes.

Beginning in Cathedral Square and finishing in the French settlement of Akaroa the course is beautiful with volcanic rock contrasting the clear blue sea and views across the Canterbury Plains to the snow-capped Alps.

Le Race is the nearest thing in New Zealand to the mountain stage of the Tour de France. The 100km course is both challenging and scenic and includes unrelenting uphill climbs as well as extremely exciting downhill sections.

All those that finish the course receive a bottle of wine and a French bread stick. This year there are some changes to Le Race to increase everyones enjoyment in competing and supporting the event.
