Auckland Harbour Festival

This new event is a celebration of Auckland's birthday on Anniversary Weekend. Auckland City is proud to be Host City and the home of Auckland Harbour Festival.

The festival is a three-day extravaganza that pays tribute to the city's maritime culture with an array of on-the-water action, including the famous Auckland Regatta. The harbour will be dotted with historic tall ships and classic yachts for the duration of the event. A match racing event will be held at the same time as the Auckland Harbour Festival. This will be the biggest harbour event since the America's Cup. Auckland will truly live up to its nickname of the City of Sails.

Children will get a chance to get out on the water to trial new water-based sports. Visitors can enjoy naval displays and tours of the Maritime Museum.

There will be plenty of activities for landlubbers as well, including a fun fair at the Viaduct Harbour. A standout feature will be one of the tallest Ferris Wheels in the world.

To top it all off the Viaduct will be humming to the sounds of major music artists. On the Sunday, thousands will boogie down to the sounds of popular New Zealand bands - Goldenhorse followed by The Exponents.
