Early February will see people of all ages and abilities participating in the inaugural Wanganui Mayoral Mile at Cooks Gardens.
The February 11 event will be the biggest athletics meeting that Wanganui has ever seen, rivalling Auckland’s Round the Bays and the Fletcher Marathon in Rotorua.
The event will feature mass participation, celebrity races and conclude with one of the richest athletics races in Australasia. New Zealand and international athletes will compete for a cash prize pool of $12,500, donated by Mayor Michael Laws.
