17th Century music for Christmas by Heinrich Schuetz and Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Charpentier's Messe de Minuit for choir, solo voices and strings is famous because he uses for its themes the melodies of the popular French carols or Noels. Schuetz's Christmas Story uses trumpets recorders, viols and violins, with choir and solo singers, to tell the Christmas Story in its famous episodes of the three Kings, the Angels appearing to the Shepherds, the flight to Egypt.
