First Night

First Night - Auckland's free family New Year's Eve event - returns to the Aotea Centre, THE EDGE® this year with the colourful theme of 'First Night - Pacific Bright'. All events will beheld within the Aotea Centre, comprising two main stages featuring popular music, cabaret acts, world music, cultural performances and children's activities. The event kicks off at 7pm and ends at midnight when the Aotea Centre will burst into bloom, heralded by the annual SKYCITY Tower fireworks.

First Night is a safe way for family and friends to see in the New Year in an alcohol and drug free environment. All entertainment will be held indoors this year meaning people can plan ahead and not worry about the weather! This year will be the seventh year THE EDGE® Public Programmes has hosted First Night with an estimated 25,000 people expected to attend.

Confirmed acts include Goldenhorse, Aradhna, Billy TK Jnr & Band, Farmer Pimp, Travelling Tuataras and a number of cultural groups.

First Night is staged by over 130 cities in the USA, Canada and the UK. Auckland hosts Australasia's only First Night event.
