Hutt Valley Community Arts and Farsite Gallery proudly present, "No Strings Attached" an exhibition of artworks by Josephine Garcia-Jowitt. The exhibition explores the changes Garcia has made in moving to live in New Zealand and the differences in the advice she can offer her children living now to that which she received from her parents.
Garcia-Jowitt comments, "No Strings Attached is an exhibition about giving myself a chance to explore the past. We as human beings behave differently because of our different beliefs, cultures and traditions.
In this project I will create works based on my own experiences. My work influences my beliefs and allows me to project myself into another world to make comparisons. Although I can't change my past, perhaps seeing it again may give me closure in the future. The independence I had so desired before I left my country is now complete and I hope to fill the gap between my two worlds through my work."
